A little Inspiration~

My new friend, who happens to be an amazing photographer (shout out to Lahna) took some shots of my spaces at both shops, I wanted to share:

storage drawers are cute anywhere!
in any color!

who doesn't love an old dress form?!
Im loving old crates and burlap right now

I need a little inspiration,,, so im packing up my family and headed north for some antiquing this weekend!
also going on right now, I am involved with a fundraiser with 4 other small business in my area who are helping to raise money for 2 local kids fighting childhood cancer, there has been an outpouring of support for these kids. The 4 business that I am teamed up with are giving $1250 dollars to the families just for people 'liking' our facebook pages!! you can find that link here: prettyinpaint.
My heart is heavy tonight for these 2 kids: Faith Fulmer and Ethan Jostad.. I cant imagine what their families are going through trying to be strong for their little warriors.

Must have Dresser

I was asked if I could re-finish this dresser, but since i don't restore furniture and only paint it, she kindly asked if i wanted to buy it! How exciting, I already had a plan for it and it wasn't even mine yet!!
It had these weird carvings on the door, but they were missing a few chunks, usually i would try to salvage the original carvings but these were of 2 faces that looked like they were yelling at each other... weird, i know!! so i took them off, puttied the holes and this is what she looked like:

I used a teal color, and grey for the panels, (grey is my new favorite color)
A bit bright, and kindof beachy... not the look i was going for.. but as usual I busted out the Minwax stain.. I cant help myself! I love the look of stain on everything!!

I love this one so much,, hmmmm i just might keep it. I will probably have my poor husband move it all over the house to see if it will work and if not, it will be in the shop :)
(gotta love husbands!!)

Fabulous Finials~

We have all seen these finials at yard sales for 1-3 dollars each... they are always that yellowish boring color... well my husband picked up 4 of them today and I thought hmmmmm how can i spice these up... so i got out the paint and started painting ..

                              Here they are before:

And after a coat of random colors of paint :

and then i waited for it to dry then slopped on some Minwax Jacobean stain
(the best color stain on this earth)

then wiped it off with an old t-shirt
I left stain in the cracks because i personally like the look of that but you could wipe it completely off if you wanted to

And all done!!
so cute and fun and easy peasy

French nightstand~

This was my attempt to create a 'french looking' night stand... I'm not sure i like it... It might grow on me though.  First I mixed some grey paint and some light purple.. i only put the purple in because i was almost out of grey and it was the lightest color i had besides white.

So before i started, it looked like this:

Then i painted on the grayish purpleish color:

Then I slathered on some Jacobean stain like this:

Then I wiped it all off :

So this is how it turned out, I'm not 100% sure it looks french like i was going for,
at least it looks better than it did before i started! Ive had times when it looks worse after i was finished!!
