Ive had this hutch and wasn't planning on painting it. I found it off Craigslist for around $150.. I was looking through a Romantic Homes magazine and saw a teal colored hutch...hmmm that got my wheels turning!! I stopped by Lowes with the 5 minutes of time before my daughters gymnastics class and bought a little sample size of a color called Mermaid. (how could a color called mermaid treat me wrong!)
here she is before, raw wood I might add, no sanding or prime! love that.
I started by painting the inside, the color was shocking and i was a bit freaked out thinking, what am i thinking!!
I realized that the entire hutch was not going to look good in Mermaid colored paint. So that's when i painted the outside of it white, that ended up being to bright against the inside color so i took some antiquing glaze, watered it down and brushed it on over the white.
It really toned it down for the look i wanted!
Here she is finished!! I really love how it turned out!
Have a great Friday!!!!

ReplyDeleteVery cool hutch! I have a much smaller, older hutch that I plan on painting white and have been considering blue for the inside of. It's nice to see how it could look!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Mindy. I love the combo of the blue and white!
